Julieta Aranda & Anton Vidokle, Time/Bank, Video (2009)

This video is part of the ongoing project Time/Bank by Julieta Aranda and Anton Vidokle (both based in New York). Time/Bank is a platform that enables people to trade goods and services without using money. They write: „Through Time/Bank, we hope to create an immaterial currency and a parallel micro-economy for the cultural community, one that is not geographically bound, and that will create a sense of worth for many of the exchanges that already take place within our field—particularly those that do not produce commodities and often escape the structures that validate only certain forms of exchange as significant or profitable.“ More on the project: www.e-flux.com/timebank

The Video reflects on temporality and capitalism. It was one of the references and starting points for the collaborative process in Gallery Augusta – we have seen it together before we started with the thoughts and discussions around time, politics, pleasure and activism that took place here.
